Gardening for our bees.

Well, this was grand ! A bunch of lovely young volunteers from the Church of the Latterday Saints, who are in the UK for a few months, came along to do their usual Saltwell park tidy up.

Once I managed to get them away from the charms of Mr Darcy and Casper, the Samoyeds, we were able to offer them bee suits. They jumped at the chance to learn a bit about what goes on in the hive, and how to be safe gardening next to our two colonies.

With Campbell finding the right fit of suits, and everyone getting tools at the ready we took advice from Ruth on what were “weeds” and what plants we should be keeping in the “Bird Feeding Area”.

Amazing how much work you can get done in such a short time. Great work guys.

Thank you from us and our bees !

See you next month !
